MATERIAL USED IN COLUMN FOOTING CONSTRUCTION

CEMENT

Cement is a binding material with gray color. Cement used in construction are usually inorganic. Sankar (53 grade) ordinary portal cement is used in this construction.

STEEL

Steel is a tension member. In this construction Fe 550 grade (TMT) steel is used. 20 mm, 25 mm, 16 mm diameter steel is used for column and 6 mm diameter steel is used for stirrups.

AGGREGATE

Aggregate is an inert material and give a mass for concrete. 20 mm,40 mm are commonly used in concrete work.

THE CONSTRUCTION PROCESS OF FOUNDATION

  1. Excavating the earth for foundation.

  2.  Laying cement concrete in foundation.

  3. Placing steel bar net in footing as per design and placing vertical bars of column in footing on the steel bar net as per design.

  4. Laying form work in footing.

  5. Laying cement concrete in required height as per design.

  6.  Curing work

  7. Remove the shuttering and refilling of earth around footing.

ISOLATED FOOTING

An Isolated footing is independent footing which are provided for each column. This footing are most commonly used footings for reinforced cement concrete column because it is simple and most economical. Using 20mm diameter steel high strength deformed bars are used and reinforced concrete is by1:1.5:3 proportion.

It is provided to support an individual column. An Isolated footing is circular, square or rectangular slab of uniform thickness. It is stepped or launched to spread the load over a large area.
